LPTM Connecting Communities Across the GlobeTM
Our summer program, LPTM Connecting Communities Across the GlobeTM ,engages 80 boys and young men ages 3-14 daily from June to August between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The program incorporates two core strategies, one academic/education based that includes in-depth math and reading literacy and individual tutoring and the other focused on art. Students are assessed at the beginning of the program to see where they need the most support. The art/creative expression offers students the opportunity to express themselves and learn to collaborate through the arts.
Apprentices learn about themselves through the context of the greater world. The program chooses one country to study and learns how that country relates to the Ward 7 and Washington, DC community. Through guest speakers, field trips, and cultural enrichment activities, our apprentices are exposed to foreign cultures and learn to read, greet, and count in at least two foreign languages.
