Professional Development and Education Aide Skills Development
Offered to young men ages 18-25, our Education Architect program aims to use our proven Human Development System to break down barriers in urban education and fill the need for men of color serving directly as educators in our schools. This program is an innovative approach to drive Black males towards classroom leadership. Our trained Education Architects/EAs actively engage elementary and middle school students within their respective schools in our Human Development System curriculum in coordination with consistent dosage of creative expression and classroom support at District schools during the day.
To aid their personal growth and classroom leadership, our Education Architects participate in ongoing professional development sessions 2 Saturdays per month in effort to prepare them to lead classrooms in the future. During their 9-month cohort training, our EAs take the ETS ParaPro Assessment (https://www.ets.org/parapro/about). This assessment measures the ability of our EAs to apply their skills when helping in classrooms. The assessment is a requirement to become an Education Aide in any DC Public School.
- Develop the leadership of young Black males post high school
- Motivate our Education Architects to seek careers in education or social work
- Receive training to take ETS Para Pro Assessment
- Develop skill sets and knowledge base to serve as Education Aides in local classrooms
