Creating Global Citizens
Life Pieces To Masterpieces educates our apprentices to be global citizens. Our young boys and men learn that they are part of a far-reaching community and are introduced and exposed to different cultures and countries and meet volunteers and visitors from around the globe.
Life Pieces To Masterpieces serves as a model for other organizations that strive to find solutions to their own community issues.
"I first met Mary Brown about six years ago and learned about her work at Life Pieces To Masterpieces. I have brought study visits from Northern Ireland to the USA for a number of years to learn from the best organisations and people. Mary Brown and LPTM have inspired many people from Northern Ireland.
Life Pieces is a fantastic organisation that has taken responsibility to intervene and attempt to improve the lives of young men in challenged neighbourhoods. It builds respect, hope and confidence in these developing young people to achieve their full potential against the odds. I have visited their program and my impressions are always positive.
The U.S. Consulate and NICVA took Mary Brown to Belfast to meet a much wider range of organisations to share her story and inspire people with new ideas to help them in their work with children and young people.
We hold Life Pieces To Mastepieces as an example of what people can do to tackle difficult problems that statutory services are ignoring or do not know how to deal with. LPTM plays a big part in helping to turn lives around by providing support to young people in difficult circumstances, and plays its part in building social capital for the wider community."
