Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at The New Benning Library

It's with great enthusiasm that we share some of our most recent news: a mural created by our apprentices is going to be one of the visual hallmark's of the NEW Benning Library! The library's much anticipated opening will start with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Fenty on Monday, April 5th followed by a grand opening on Saturday, April 10th. Key members of the Life Pieces leadership team along with a number of apprentices will be on site. Life Pieces and Benning have had a special bond over the years: almost fourteen years ago the library hosted our first art exhibition and reception which allowed us to introduce Life Pieces to the Ward 7 community. At that time, there were just seven apprentices. Hundreds of apprentices and thousands of materpieces later, we are honored to display one of our murals at the new location. In addition to creating a new environment for learning and sharing in our community, the library is going to be one of the first green buildings seeking leed silver certification in our area. The Life Pieces mural that will be featured inside of the library focuses on environmental awareness, a theme integrated into many areas of our current programming.
